Our main room is ready to go. It's a comfortable open space equipped with an isolated drum booth which houses a nice Yamaha drum set. Or bring your own. With the addition of a professional quality grand piano and live performance space, there just isn't much you can't do here at Vatican City Sound. Would you like a video of your session as well? Group photos? Leave it to us! A produced and directed studio session with Mike Pope as sound engineer leaves you to do what you do best: Make great music.
Once all of your tracks are recorded, you can work together with Mike to mix your project. No need to worry when Mike is at the helm, as his many years of recording and mixing experience makes the process enjoyable..
Whether your project is recorded here at VCS or elsewhere, Mike can provide you with a reproduction-ready master. In this process, levels are maximized and adjusted from track to track, tracks are put in order with the appropriate space between tracks, and light EQ and other appropriate effects are applied to bring out all the best aspects of your project. It's the finishing touch that really makes your project be the best it can be.
THE STUDIO
Hi! Welcome to Vatican City Sound's website! I built VCS to be a comfortable, intimate and effective place for recording lots of different kinds of music. I've paid a lot of attention to the acoustical treatments in the main room to maintain a controlled sound without being dead. I've put many hours into the design and manufacture of several custom diffuser panels and mixed them with absorption in the room to soak up the bad reflections and spread out the good ones. I believe how you hear when recording is a priority, so I custom designed the headphone distribution to be quiet, powerful, and flexible. Great headphone mixes along with clear sightlines and analog closed circuit TV keep everyone comfortable and in touch, visually and aurally. I run ProTools on a really fast computer and and RME interface. I put VCS together from scratch to make great recordings for myself. Now I'm ready to do it for you. Let's get to work!

Joe Locke is widely considered to be one of the major voices of his instrument. He has performed and recorded with a diverse range of notable musicians, including Grover Washington Jr, Kenny Barron, Eddie Henderson, Cecil Taylor, Dianne Reeves, Ron Carter, The Beastie Boys, the Münster Symphony Orchestra and the Lincoln, Nebraska Symphony.
