Cold Truth, Warm Heart
Mike Pope builds significant musical, personal and spiritual bridges between the past, present and future on his 3rd release, “Cold Truth, Warm Heart”. Mike Pope with Seamus Blake, Joe Locke, Geoffrey Keezer, Alan Blackman, Mauricio Zottarelli, and Lydia Courtney
On his first solo project in thirteen years, virtuosic improviser Geoffrey Keezer is on a mission to redefine solo jazz piano as a personal and interactive showcase of melody, energy and groove. Of his many diverse projects, Heart of the Piano is the most direct and focused recording of Keezer’s career. And, after more than 20 years leading his various ensembles and collaborating with artists from Art Blakey to Chris Botti to Sting, Keezer firmly states: “Now it’s time for me to be me!”
"Signing" is the long awaited follow-up and critically acclaimed studio album of "Live In Seattle" by The Joe Locke / Geoffrey Keezer Group, again featuring Terreon Gully and Mike Pope. "The special hook-up between vibraphonist Joe Locke and pianist Geoffrey Keezer is based on shared assets like chops, listening skills and a gift for communicating the joy of making music. Locke/Keezer can make complex material sound suave and tricky time signatures flow." (Thomas Conrad, JazzTimes).
"Blue November," this release from Manhattan Vibes, features Christos Rafalides (vibraphone), Sergio Salvatore (piano), Mike Pope (bass), and Vince Cherico (drums). Listeners will discover these New-York-based musicians combining their diverse cultural backgrounds and transcending musical boundaries, merging odd meters and contemporary American grooves with world music in a vibraphone-based band.
